Overview
The USGS – Rocky Mountain Geographic Science Center is providing an Internet-based map viewer, displaying both vector and raster mapping datasets of the continental United States to GIS technical specialists assigned to incident management teams, and to wildland fire specialists. The viewer also serves as a portal for downloading seamless vector and raster data.
Supporting the need for on-demand access to dynamically generated data, on-line users may zoom-in to a specific area, select the area of interest, then download individual map layers of that area. Vector layers are processed using ArcIMS functionality that will clip, and ship the data to the users. For raster data, the defined map coordinates are processed by EarthWhere, then transferred to an FTP site for easy retrieval. All your created map layers may be shipped on a compact disc instead, if desired.
